The attainment of 50 years of age in our personal lives or business holds great significance. ACB’s achievement of this historic landmark is more magnified since represents the hopes, dreams and aspirations of Antiguans and Barbudans in an industry that was largely closed to them. The business has grown from being a Penny Bank to a business with assets of over EC$600 million.
The achievements of a bank from such humble beginnings are remarkable:
- The first to build a multi-storey building in St. Johns
- The first to introduce ATMs in Antigua
- The first to introduce computers in Antigua’s banking industry
- The first commercial bank to introduce a student loan programme
ACB has also helped many of our entrepreneurs to rise to the commanding heights of our economy. Antiguans now dominate the supermarket industry, thanks to ACB. Additionally, home ownership has become more attainable with the advent of ACB Mortgage and Trust Company Limited.
What about the next 50 years? We will not be complacent! Like their predecessors, the next generation of customers can expect us to play a pivotal role in helping them to carve a niche for themselves in the evolving global landscape. ACB is committed to enriching the life of our people, our region and our world.
This page is designed to assist you, our partners, in understanding the spirit of ACB as together we share a “Golden Past, Platinum Future…”. Our 50th anniversary page is designed to share our rich heritage with you. Feel free to browse and also view our 50th anniversary video. We hope it evokes fond memories.
